Project Details:

The owners of this Wellington property were required to bring it up to current code and replace the non-compliant balustrade. Supreme Balustrades worked closely with the Body Corporate and later with the project manager, to remove and replace the old timber and galvanised iron piping with a new code compliant system. This work had to be completed in stages, removing the old balustrade and installing the new posts and glass panels in sections, as there were residents in the building and scaffolding was not provided. UNEX’s “Siena” semi-frameless style with 8mm Clear Float Toughened Glass was selected. This style offers easy maintenance as there is no bottom rail to collect dirt or debris, and water can easily run off the glass. “Siena” balustrade powder coated in Black, was installed throughout the apartment complex and top fixed to all the concrete decks, stairs and landings. The new balustrade is 1,100mm high as required for shared areas where people may congregate in apartment or office blocks. The end result was a pleasing face lift for the building, code compliance and a safer environment for all the residents.
